Today Radioactivity discusses efforts to get antibiotics out of meat and the dangers associated with over-use of antibiotics. Rob Lorei Interviews Jean Halloran, Director of Food Policy Initiatives for Consumers Union about an ad her organization published in the Tampa Bay Times asking Trader Joe’s today to stop selling meat from animals raised on antibiotics. The ad highlights how the overuse of antibiotics by the meat industry on healthy livestock threatens public health by making these medications less effective for treating disease. Trader Joe’s is opening its first store in Tampa on March 21.

Later on the show, Rob interviews Bruce Gagnon with the group Keep Space for Peace about the a giant air show this weekend at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa. How much do these events cost and what role do they play in our society? The MacDill Air Force Base Tampa Bay AirFest 2014 is scheduled for March 22nd and 23rd featuring the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.
