Do "Gun Free Zones" Invite Gun Deaths? And A Leading Muslim American Human Rights Activist Speaks Out04/04/13 Robert Lorei
Radioactivity: Live Call-In (Thursday) | Listen to this entire show:
Welcome to Radioactivity. I’m Rob Lorei. Coming up we’ll look at those proposals from the NRA for school safety. We’ll talk with a journalist from Mother Jones Magazine who has been covering the gun safety issue closely since the Newtown massacre.
Later we’ll talk with a leading Muslim American civil rights activist……
But first: U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein is blaming the National Rifle Association and gun manufacturers for the reluctance among many of her colleagues to ban assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines as a response to the December massacre at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn.
The NRA says schools across the nation should train and arm at least one staff member. A study sponsored by the National Rifle Association makes eight recommendations, including easing state laws that might bar a trained school staff member from carrying firearms and improving school coordination with law enforcement agencies. The recommendations come a week before the Senate begins debate on gun control legislation.
