Sustainable Living and Alternative Health | Listen to this entire show:

Today’s WMNF Sustainable Living program started with a short interview about the beautiful landscaping at WMNF in Tampa. Gail and Paul Carol, WMNF Volunteers, took over the responsibility of the plants and irrigation of our mainly Florida native landscaping. Gail joined the show to talk about the new planting of perennial peanut that line ML King Blvd in front of the station. You can be involved with this award winning Florida Friendly Landscape by contacting joellen@wmnf.org. Herb Day is coming up this Saturday, May 3rd, and we spent the rest of the show with Willow LaMonte, a local herbalist and long time organic gardener. She’ll be a featured speaker at the event. Also, the main promoter of this event, Bob Linde, a local Doctor of Oriental Medicine and owner of Acupuncture and Herbal Therapies joined the show. Bob talked about the link of common Florida herbs to sustainable living. A lot of common so-called weeds, such as Spanish needle (Bidens alba), can keep us out of the for-profit drug stores. This celebration will be held in St. Petersburg and hosted by Acupuncture & Herbal Therapies and St. Petersburg Health & Wellness located at 222 2nd Street North.
