HITLERLAND: American Eyewitnesses to the Nazi Rise to Power
Good morning, welcome to Radioactivity. Iâm Rob Lorei. Coming up on the first part of todayâs program weâll talk with Andrew Nagorski, author of the new book HITLERLAND (Simon and Schuster). Itâs a book about Americans living in or visiting Germany in the 1920âs and 30âs as Adolph Hitler rose to power. The book includes eyewitness accounts from journalists, diplomats, socialites, intellectuals, labor organizers, artists, performers and athletes. Some were famous at the time- such as aviator Charles Lindbergh and author Sinclair Lewis. Others were soon to be famous- such as broadcasters Howard K. Smith, CBSâs William Shirer and a young Harvard Student named John F. Kennedy.
