The Occupy movement in this country is in its 5th month. The movement which says it represents the 99% of Americans against the extraordinary power wielded by the 1% has seen mass marches, confrontations with police, arrests, serious injuries and has changed the public debate over what national issues are most important.
Journalist Arun Gupta has covered the Occupy movement since it began in September in New York City. Since then he’s traveled to occupy sites around the country. He’s a founding editor of The Indypendent newspaper in New York. He’s also written for Salon, The Guardian and The Progressive Magazine.
He’s been visiting the Occupy sites here in the Tampa Bay area and he’ll be speaking tonight in St. Petersburg at Studio 620 in St. Pete at 7PM.
