Kriseman, Foster defend dueling endorsements during St. Pete mayoral debate
It’s supposed to be a non-partisan race, but St. Pete Mayor Bill Foster and the man challenging him for his office at City Hall made some partisan issues the crux of a debate Wednesday at a Suncoast Tiger Bay luncheon. Rick Kriseman, a Democrat who formerly served in the Florida House, has been endorsed by former Governor Charlie Crist, also a Democrat. Meanwhile, Foster, a Republican, has been endorsed by fellow conservative and current governor, Rick Scott.
Kriseman and Foster were also asked if rumors about re-hiring fired St. Pete Chief of Police Goliath Davis were true. Both answered no and said there would be a local and national search to replace retiring Chief Chuck Harmon.
Election Day is November 5, but absentee ballots have already been mailed to many registered voters.
