Last Call Friday: the RNC Wrap up08/31/12 Lisa Marzilli
Last Call Friday | Listen to this entire show:
On today's "post RNC" show we were joined by Tampa activists Life Malcolm and Kelly Benjamin, who were involved in organizing many of the protests covered by WMNF reporters and other local media.
We also heard from UC Irvine Sociology Professor David Meyer on why the projected number of RNC protestors differed so dramatically from the the actual turnout. And we heard from the head of the Charlotte N.C. area Salvation Army, Deronda Metz. An Op-Ed in the Charlotte Observer this week talked about how low-income families in that city are being displaced from some affordable “extended stay” motels that are jacking up their rates to $300 a night ahead of the Democrat National Convention that begins on Tuesday. I spoke with Metz about what her group is doing to help the people being put out on the street.
