If you were driving south on I-275 Saturday night in St. Petersburg, you may have passed by a pedestrian overpass with this message in lights: "Free Bradley Manning."

Events were planned Saturday on at least five continents to mark the 1,000th day Manning had been in detention, charged with leaking tens of thousands of government documents to the website WikiLeaks.

Manning’s legal team suggests he has been mistreated in prison.

John Brower is with Tampa Light Brigade, the local organization using lighted signs to get their message across.

Tampa Light Brigade uses the techniques based on the widespread movement called Overpass Light Brigade.
