The Republican National Convention is going on this week amid a flood of security and a relative trickle of protesters. Wednesday we looked at the legal issues protesters are encountering.

Our first guests today in the studio was National Lawyers Guild’s mass defense coordinator Abi Hassen and joining us on the phone was their executive director Heidi Boghosian. Abi is on the ground here in Tampa, there were very few arrests. We asked him how this compares with previous large security events, what the NLG thinks about the police presence, and what protesters should do if they get arrested.

We also spoke with Rae Abeleah from the women’s peace group CODEPINK. We spoke about CodePink’s action Wednesday at an event with former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice.

Tuesday a judge in Israel ruled against the family of Rachel Corrie. They were seeking damages for Rachel’s death nearly a decade ago. Rae has followed this story.
