Today on Radioactivity Rob Lorei speaks with Ben Montgomery author of Grandma Gatewood’s Walk. His book tells the story of 67-year-old woman who walked the two thousand miles of the Appalachian Trail with no camping gear. In May of 1955, Emma Gatewood left her home (a small town in Ohio) and secretly travelled to northwest Georgia and began the 2050 mile trip along the Appalachian trail to Maine. She travelled alone and had no tent, no backpack, no dehydrated food and no sleeping bag.
