Obama is now a Super PAC man
In light of President Obama’s reversal this week, we’re going to talk about Super PAC's. Political expenditures for the upcoming general election are expected to exceed a billion dollars. Thanks to Steven Colbert and his attorney, former FEC Chairman Trevor Potter, people are a lot more aware of some of the crazy, nuanced rules of these organizations that can give unlimited amounts of money with almost no disclosure.
Before we dive in, I’m going to play a couple of minutes of an interview that the News Hour’s Judy Woodruffe did this week with President Obama’s senior campaign strategist David Axelrod the day after Obama reversed his stance on Super PAC's.
Our guest today is Jessica Levinson, visiting associate professor of law at Loyola Law School Los Angeles. She was previously Director of Political Reform at the Center for Governmental Studies, a non-profit, think-tank. Her specialties include election law and campaign finance reform.comments powered by Disqus
