What I find so interesting in this story is how fervently these white Christians pray, ostensibly to Jesus and the Lord. Yet it's these same people who are the first to spew hatred towards gays, blacks and Jews! Is that what Jesus taught them? Another question that plagues me: why are we still bound to 'the gospel', which was written in a time when innocents were cruxified and burned at the stake? Isn't it possible that those who wrote these doctrines were also discriminatory and political in their writings? Look how the Vatican has shoved child abuse under the rug, rather than dealing with the issues. Hurray for Pope Francis! It's refreshing to have this progressive soul in charge...finally!
