Macklin is a leader in the effort to legalize same sex marriage and to decriminalize marijuana. Philp spoke of the progress of those efforts. DELAY CRITICIZES AARP ON ITS SOCIAL SECURITY STANCE - Mitch Perry

Republicans attacked the AARP as well as congressional Democrats today as they struggled to build momentum behind President Bush's call for personal investment accounts under Social Security.

NEW PRISON COMMISSION FORMED - Mitch Perry

There are currently 2 million people serving in America’s prisons, but according to a new organization, nobody is looking closely at how they are being treated and how that treatment affects them as they return to society.

So, today a national Commission announced they will investigate Safety and Abuse in the county’s Prison facilities, by holding a series of public hearings over the next year……Their first Public Hearing will take place in Tampa next month....

The coalition of Immokalee workers, farm workers cooperative based about 30 miles east of Fort Meyers. began their 4th annual Taco Bell Truth Tour this morning. For the next two weeks they will be holding protests and teach-ins throughout the southeast and Midwest, and will finish with a rally in front of the Yum brands headquarters in Kentucky, WMNF’s Andrew Stelzer will be traveling with the truth tour for the next few days, and brings us this report from the worker town of Immokalee.
