This election year, the emergence of so called Ã¢â¬Å527Ã¢â¬? groups which spend millions of dollars on ads criticizing political candidates, has caused some to say that the McCain Feingold campaign finance reform law has been ineffective in getting big companies out of politics. The Tampa tiger bay club held a debate between candidates for 3 county commission seats this afternoon. But the only seat for which more than one candidate showed up for was district 7, which is an at large district currently held by Pat frank, who is stepping down. The three candidates running are Denise Layne, Joe Redner, and Mark Sharpe. This morning the Tampa city council discussed how the city handled this summers hurricanes, and how to handle the explosion of bars and nightclubs in Ybor city. WMNFÃ¢â¬â¢s Andrew Stelzer was there and filed this report.

Danny Suarez/John Maldonado are organizers with the group MI FAMILIA VOTA. They are registering local latinos to vote in the coming election. Their goal is to improve turnout among Hispanics, which is one of the fastest growing groups in the country.
