Channel 28 reported this afternoon that there were problems with voting machines at the college Hill library on east Martin Luther king boulevard today, which caused an extra half hour delay for people attempting to vote early. Throughout the state, there have been lines at voting sites since early voting began on October 18th. Rebecca Harrison Steele who is the staff of the Florida Chapter of the ACLU discussed the first three proposed amendments on Florida's ballot (parental notification; speeding the time required for grassroots froups to get an issue on the ballot, and limiting attorney's fees in medical malpractice). Filipino activists have been working on passing a bill, HR 677, which provides that the United States would give Filipino WWII Veterans benefits. WMNFÃ¢â¬â¢s Grace Santos files this report.

There were 45,000 hybrid vehicles registered in the US last year, Florida ranked third in the nation. Now, the federal Express company has bought 4 hybrid trucks and put them on the road in Florida. Today they held a press conference to show off the new trucks, which run on a combination of diesel fuel and electric power.

THE RAIL TRUTH COMMITTEE supports Florida's High Speed Rail Amendment. Ken Walton is the director the the Rail Truth Committee and he described why voting against Amendment Six next week would be better for Florida's environment, job picture, and economy.
