Many of America's conservative Christian leaders are staunch supporters of Israel and its current policy toward the Palestinians. In this interview, author Deanne Stillman described the motives behind that support and the biblical prophecy which the fundamentalists believe shows we are nearing Armageddon. THE UNITED STATES SENATE PREPARES TO DEBATE APPROVAL OF THE YUCCA MOUNTAIN NUCLEAR WASTE STORAGE FACILITY

In this segment, two guests: David Pred of the Florida Coalition for Peace and Justice, and Daphne Sorensen of the Florida Public Interest Research Group discussed the environmental drawbacks of shipping radioactive waste from nuclear power plants to Yucca Mountain, Nevada. The guests also pointed out that the state of Nevada government along with the native Americans who own title to the land object to the storage plan.

A popular drug treatment program in the Bay area during the 1970s, '80s and '90s was Straight, Inc. Several alumni of the program were the guests on today's program. They tell of what they describe as abuse, sexual violations and inhumane treatment they experienced as clients of the program. GENETICALLY ENGINEERED FOOD

Jason Boehk, co-founder of Florida Alliance for Safe Foods. The FASF has launched a public awareness campaign about the possible dangers of genetically engineered foods. In Europe most GE foods are banned and Boehk says that there is no requirement that GE foods be tested on animals or humans before they are okayed for sale. The group is asking the Publix supermarket chain to refrain from selling GE foods.

CALIFORNIA IS COMING TO TAMPA TO RECRUIT TEACHERS

A spokesperson for the state of California's teacher recruitment program, Marnie Bielefeldt, discussed her group's open house this weekend in Tampa at the Tampa Hyatt Regency. California is facing a teacher shortage and is coming here to recruit experienced teachers. She says the pay and working conditions are better for teachers in California than they are in Florida.
