RACIAL AND RELIGIOUS TENSION IN THE U.S.

Dr. Roy Kaplan of the St. Petersburg office of the National Conference for Communities and Justice spoke on the growing racial and religious tension in the U.S. Kaplan's group is planning a series of interfaith services locally to try to help bring some understanding among people of differing religious and ethnic backgrounds.

THE TRANSFER OF THE EPA OMBUDSMAN

Stauffer Chemical Superfund activist Heather Malinowski was shocked when the EPA's ombudsman Robert Martin was forced from office earlier this year. Martin had been a champion of the concerns of Tarpon Springs residents who feared the EPA was going to push a weak clean-up plan at the former chemical plant. She says that Martin should be rehired and that the position of ombudsman be insulated from political pressure.
