Last night in Sarasota the City Commission voted in favor of becoming the latest community to adopt a resolution disavowing parts of the Patriot Act. WMNFÃ¢â¬â¢s Kimberley Farley reports.
The vote was 3-2 with Mayor Lou Ann Palmer and Vice-Mayor Richard Martin dissenting. Mary Ann Servian, Fredd Atkins, and Dan Bilyeu, who was the resolutionÃ¢â¬â¢s sponsor, voted in favor.

Film-maker and community activist Lisa Wilson is part of a drive to save an undeveloped, 7.5 acre plot of land in the heart of Sarasota. The space is being sought by developers because it is one of the largest undeveloped land tracts in the city. Wilson and others would like to preserve the space as a park called Emerald Forest.Be the first to comment
After many months of patience and hard work, a broad coalition of Sarasotans has succeeded in placing on the City agenda a draft resolution opposing portions of the 'PATRIOT Act'.
