Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn announced Wednesday that he will host three town hall meetings in August on the impacts of the Republican National Convention on residents and businesses.

The meetings will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on August 14 (Florida Aquarium), August 15 (Stetson University College of Law Tampa campus) and August 16 (Kate Jackson Community Center on South Rome Ave.).

Late Monday law enforcement agencies released a list of roads that will be closed and other transportation limitations in Tampa and St. Petersburg during August's Republican National Convention.

According to the document (which can be found below) many downtown Tampa roads, including the Selmon Expressway, will be closed for a week. Pedestrians will be restricted south of Brorein St.

Some residents of West Tampa are trying to get the Occupy Tampa encampment to clean up its park. But this morning city staff told Tampa City Council that, while neighbors may consider the privately-owned land to be an eyesore, there’s not much that can be done. The Coalition to March on the RNC announced today it had received a permit from Tampa to march along the city’s designated parade route on the first morning of next month’s Republican National Convention.
