After a one-day delay because of Isaac, the Republican National Convention kicked off in earnest this afternoon in Tampa. One of the speakers in the first hour was Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn who gave a brief welcome to the delegates.

Some forecast models predict Tropical Storm Isaac could affect Tampa during the Republican National Convention. Most of the secure area cordoned off for the event is in the first evacuation zone.
