Last week the Pew Research Center released an extensive study showing that the number of self-identified christians are on the decline, falling 8 percentage points in the last 7 years, according to the survey. Meanwhile the numbers of the religiously unaffiliated, including atheists and agnostics, have increased 6 percent in the same amount of time, non-christian followers also increased slightly. Atheist blogger and author Hemant Mehta, joins us to discuss the meaning of the study's findings.

The United States is religiously devout yet also religiously tolerant. That's according to Professor Robert Putnam. He wrote a book on how religion units and divides Americans and he spoke last Thursday about the topic at Forum Truth in Sarasota.

ACLU sues Alachua Schools over anti-Islam suspensions listen

Today the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida filed a federal lawsuit against the Alachua County School District.

The lawsuit charges school administrators with unlawfully censoring students’ free speech when students were suspended or threatened with suspension for wearing t-shirts promoting their religious beliefs in school and at school events earlier this year.

WMNF spoke with Howard Simon, executive director of the ACLU of Florida.
