The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s office keeps undocumented immigrants in jail for a federal immigration enforcement agency instead of letting them bail out. An immigration’s rights group is asking them to join other local agencies who have stopped that practice.

According to an analysis by the group Raices en Tampa, more than 80% of undocumented immigrants held in the Hillsborough County jail aren’t charged with a crime. Marisol Marquez is the founder of that group.

A conservative Christian group is asking church leaders to ramp up political advocacy. During one of several statewide “rallies” on Tuesday in Tampa, leaders with the Who Will Stand campaign showed a video telling pastors it’s OK to talk politics.

Governor Rick Scott signed a bill Monday giving Florida students who are undocumented immigrants the chance to attend a state university for the same price as their peers. The bill provides waivers for in-state tuition so they don't have to pay much higher out of state rates.

The bill also freezes tuition rates at Florida public colleges. The Governor is highlighting his commitment to low tuition during his re-election bid against likely opponent, Charlie Crist.
