Tampa Peace activists opposed to more war in southwest Asia have demonstrated outside MacDill Air Force Base several times in the last few months as the U.S. escalated its wars in Iraq and Syria; but Friday there will be a new location for their anti-war protest: a Raytheon plant in Largo.

It begins at 4:00 p.m. at the corner of Bryan Dairy Road and Belcher Road and is being organized by St. Pete For Peace.

Local peace groups will protest possible U.S. military actions in Iraq this week near the Tampa command center for southwest Asia.

Religious-based peace activists continue their weekly sign-waving on busy Pinellas County street corners.

During rush hour Wednesday afternoon, Kathleen Rumpf joined half-dozen others from Pax Christi and Quaker groups on the corner of U.S. 19 and 22nd Avenue South in South St. Petersburg.

They plan to peace corner again next Wednesday.

Peace activists are planning a No War With Syria demonstration in South Tampa Saturday at 6 p.m. They’re gathering at the corner of Gandy Boulevard and Dale Mabry Highway.

As part of a national anti-war initiative called April Days of Action Against Drones and Occupation, some USF students and community activists are reaching out for peace. We spoke with Chris Ernesto, a co-founder of St. Pete for Peace, about what they've done since 2003 and what's to come for the anti-war and social justice group.
