Some USF students have been staging sit-ins at the University of South Florida in Tampa for four Fridays in a row. Even though the group today was small, they were still demanding that the USF president start working with them to meet their list of demands.

Friday on the Tampa campus of the University of South Florida several students held what they’re calling a weekly occupation of the Patel Center.
That building houses the offices of university president Judy Genshaft and other administrators.

The war in Afghanistan is now in its twelfth year and some students in the Tampa Bay area have had enough. Ten members of Students for a Democratic Society, or SDS, rallied at USF Tampa today to speak out against the continued occupation of Afghanistan and other Middle Eastern countries. Matthew Hastings said the military spending can be better used to fund public education.

Occupy Tampa now has an ally at the area’s largest university. Occupy USF, which is partnering with the school’s newly-formed chapter of Students for a Democratic Society.
