Egypt State TV says President Hosni Mubarak has sworn in a new Cabinet, following days of massive demonstrations calling for him to step down. An opposition figure, Mohamed ElBaradei joined protesters in Tahrir Square in Cairo yesterday. He called for Mubarak’s ouster.

The news network Al Jazeera English says six of its journalists have been released from custody, but their equipment was confiscated, after Egyptian authorities ordered their Cairo office closed.

Pastor Terry Jones issued a moratorium to the New York City imam behind the so-called Ground Zero Mosque today. He asked the imam to speak with him about moving the site of the proposed Muslim community center. The imam did not respond, but Jones has said he plans to travel to New York tonight to speak with him.

This Saturday is the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania. This year the anniversary coincides with an increase in anti-Muslim sentiment across the country. That includes opposition the Park51 Islamic Cultural Center in lower Manhattan, to crimes against a Muslim congregation in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and even a planned Quran burning in Florida.

Today peace activists from St. Pete for Peace and Veterans for Peace protested outside an event hosted by the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce, where the keynote speaker was Gen. David Petraeus.

The groups were rallying to "support the troops who refuse to take part in war crimes,” as well as protesting Gen. Petraeus' appearance and the Chamber of Commerce's push to curtail civil liberties at BayWalk.
