The station manager of this radio station, 88.5-FM WMNF, resigned early yesterday morning. Details are still emerging, but Letty Valdes, president of the board of directors of the Nathan B. Stubblefield Foundation, said Jim Bennett submitted his letter of resignation several hours after a Monday night board meeting.

On Monday night, CNN and the Tea Party Express invited 8 Republican presidential candidates for a televised debate in Tampa.

At the same time, dozens protested outside the Florida State Fairgrounds.

That afternoon, WMNF listeners called in to the Last Call to speak about the candidates, their policies and the media coverage of the 2012 presidential race.

An institution in Tampa’s urban radio landscape is no more. WTMP, which airs R&B on 96.1 FM and 1150 AM is changing its format. One programmer who was laid off when they switched to automated programming this week is Jarvis El-Amin. He hosted a community talk show called Honest Opinion and says he’s not sure what type of programming will be next.
