Republicans have been outspoken about battling supposed voter fraud in elections. The Florida Consumer Action Network hosted speeches and a march last night in Ybor City in protest of increased voting regulations. Voter suppression concerns focused on immigrants and African Americans.

The Occupy Tampa encampment has come under fire by some community leaders in West Tampa who think it’s an eye sore. Today, the group is cleaning it up along with some other areas in the neighborhood. But they’re not just doing it to help out their neighbors. Bailey Riley was one of the occupiers who organized the effort. The women’s peace group CODEPINK sent a press release Wednesday afternoon saying two of their members interrupted the speech of former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in Tampa.

Despite a tropical storm warning, school closures, and the postponed Republican convention activities in Tampa, the second major protest of Monday kicked off in the afternoon in the city’s downtown financial district. The Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign organized a large non-permitted march starting in “Romneyville.”
