The Republicans are in town to crown Mitt Romney as their presidential nominee. The convention began in earnest on Tuesday and will continue throughout the week at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in downtown.
But there’s also another presidential candidate in Tampa these days.
You might recognize him as the voice of the popular honey badger videos.
Well, Randall is running as a write-in as Honey Badger 2012.

The Occupy Tampa encampment has come under fire by some community leaders in West Tampa who think it’s an eye sore. Today, the group is cleaning it up along with some other areas in the neighborhood. But they’re not just doing it to help out their neighbors. Bailey Riley was one of the occupiers who organized the effort. She said it’s also a way to combat rising opinions that people in the movement are anarchists bent on chaos and destruction.

The women’s peace group CODEPINK sent a press release Wednesday afternoon saying two of their members interrupted the speech of former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in Tampa.
They say retired Colonel Ann Wright stood up and criticized Rice about the war on Iraq and later Rae Abileah interrupted Rice to say the “blood of Iraqi children is on your hands!” Abileah will be one of my guests this afternoon on Last Call.

During a Florida delegation to the Republican convention breakfast at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, activists associated with the group Stand Up Florida yelled out during Senator Rubio’s speech. Over the weekend former Governor Charlie Crist endorsed Barack Obama for re-election to President.
Crist switched to an independent after a long political career as a Republican.

On Sunday morning, downtown’s Gaslight Park was alive with protesters.
That’s where a march of the 99% began.
But there was also an ice sculpture with the words “Middle Class” that melted through the afternoon.
Nora Ligorano and Marshall Reese are the two artists who created the melting ice sculpture.
