Hundreds of activists rallied at a park in downtown Tampa this morning against the Republican Party. After hearing from dozens of groups representing interests from healthcare to women’s rights, protesters marched through the streets of Tampa under tight police control. William Sloan, a Vietnam veteran, ignored the sweat cascading down his face to demand peace.

Thousands of protesters, activists, and political groups are traveling to Tampa to protest this year's Republican National Convention.

The Tampa Tribune reports the city will use drones for surveillance during the Republican National Convention next week. More than 100 peace activists protested the use of unmanned drones in countries overseas at Raytheon in Largo Thursday afternoon.

An atheist group has rented a billboard in Tampa during next week's Republican convention.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation wants to tell visiting delegates to keep religion out of politics. In a press release they say the billboard will be displayed beginning today on Kennedy Boulevard west of Arrawana Street. It says "God fixation won't fix this nation."
