Patricia McCormick is a former journalist who has won much acclaim for the compassionate approach to hard hitting subjects. Her book Sold was a National Book Award finalist. She discusses her latest book Never Fall Down in which she tells the story of Arn Chon-Pond.She tell the story using the "voice" of Arn as the young boy of 8 who is experiencing the devastation of the killing fields in Cambodia.This is the story of his survival of those killing fields and how music allowed him to survive that reign of terror. We follow Arn through a 4 yr period to his eventual escape very near death with cerebral malaria into Thailand. Arn Chorn-Pond has devoted his life to humanitarian causes especially to young people in need. He is the founder of the Cambodian Living Arts. With The Cambodian Living Arts, he hopes to recover and continue the musical tradition that saved his life. Never Fall Down is a Balzer+Bray (an imprint of Harper Collins) 2012.
