Members of the Suncoast Tiger Bay Club were dining on chicken and asparagus at the St. Pete Yacht Club Wednesday when news came down that Young wouldn’t be seeking re-election. WMNF’s Janelle Irwin caught up with some of the area’s most politically involved constituents about what kind of race might be in store now that the seat is open season for Republicans.

David Zachem, Ed Montanari, Art O’Hara, David Punzak and Tami Simms are members of the non-partisan Suncoast Tiger Bay Club who weighed in on the announcement Wednesday by Republican Bill Young to retire from his seat in Congress.

I'm praying, PRAYING TO THE LORD ALMIGHTY, that Paul Congemi will enter the race! I can just picture it now at a St. Pete KFC: "Gimme some damn chicken wings for free! I'm a Congressional candidate, and I'm shut this place down if you don't!!!"
