Prison privatization foe demoted In Tallahassee and a Ballot for America's Future
This morning we’ll talk about the removal of a state Senator yesterday from committee that oversees the prison budget- because the Senator has been critical of prison privatization plans.
And later we’ll talk about an effort to poll Americans on some major issues that are rarely talked about by candidates for national office.
First up today -- State Senator Mike Fasano of New Port Richey was removed from his position on a senate subcommittee that oversees spending on prisons and the courts.
Florida Senate President Mike Haridopolos took the action because Fasano has been fighting a plan to privatize prisons in South Florida. Fasano is also being removed from the main budget committee.
Senator Mike Fasano joins us now live. Next up we'll talk with political activist and former St. Petersburg mayoral candidate Ed Helm. He has a new project to poll Americans on major issues of war, peace and health that are never asked by traditional pollsters. He's handing out a questionnaire (Ballot on America's Future) in Pinellas County and New Hampshire. And he joins us now.comments powered by Disqus
