A lot of the national campaign news this week has focused on recently surfaced video of Mitt Romney at a fundraiser in Boca Raton.
In the video Romney characterized 47 percent of Americans as freeloaders who don’t pay federal income taxes, will vote for Barack Obama, and expect the government to take care of them.
We’ve heard some of the clips from this fundraiser. But today we’re going to try something a bit unconventional on Last Call. Instead of taking phone calls right away, we’re going to play an extended portion of the more-than-hour-long video. It’s in two parts on the website motherjones.com.
In this long segment at the beginning of the tape, Governor Mitt Romney jokes about how he might have been better off if his father had been Mexican. He also talks about foreign policy including Iran and maintaining U.S. military strength.
Mitt Romney will speak at the Ringling Museum in Sarasota Thursday afternoon. A protest is planned beginning at 1 p.m.
