Senator Rubio tells Tampa audience recent Obama administration scandals are due to political culture
Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) spoke in Tampa on Saturday, but instead of focusing on immigration reform he railed against the recent IRS, AP and Benghazi scandals. At the Hillsborough County Republican Party’s annual Lincoln Day Dinner Rubio said he is concerned about excessive government. He said the Obama administration’s criticism of the GOP has created a culture of politics that is responsible for these scandals.
“When you go around demonizing your opponents, when you go around telling people our opponents (politically) they’re not just wrong, they’re bad. It creates a culture and when you’re the president of the United States, when you’re the governing party in a country it impacts the people that work for you in government and every agency in government.â€
He also said the events of last week prove that the role of increased and powerful government is dangerous and against American policy.
“All over the world the people in charge use the power of the government to intimidate and harass their political opponents and what’s makes us different and special is that here - we don’t accept that, we’re not supposed to do that, it is unconstitutional to do that.â€
Senator Rubio told the banquet guests that the GOP is fighting to preserve American liberties, speak out against large government and will win elections in 2014.
