There’s just one week left in the Pinellas County special election for Congress to replace the late U.S. Rep. Bill Young.

Democrat Alex Sink’s campaign picked up a celebrity endorsement today when Jon "Bowzer" Bauman of Sha Na Na recorded a song targeting seniors via robocalls.

"Hi, this is John "Bowzer" Bauman formerly of Sha Na Na, calling on behalf of Alex Sink for Congress with an important message for senior voters. You know, I love the music of the Fifties but that does not mean that I want to go back to a time before Medicare. Alex is running on a pledge to protect and preserve Medicare but her opponent, Washington lobbyist David Jolly, has praised the plan that would turn Medicare into a costly voucher program. This is going to be a very close election so we're encouraging you to vote today. Early vote locations are open in Largo, Clearwater, and St. Pete today from 10 to 6. So, if youse are a senior the choice is clear; Bum ba ba bum, ba bum ba bum bum, baba bum puppa bum, ba dangadang dang, ba dinga dong ding. Vote for Alex Sink. Paid for by Alex Sink for 727-266-5917."

The special Congressional election is next Tuesday. Republican David Jolly and Libertarian Lucas Overby are also on the ballot.
