Solar roadways: bad idea or awesome technology?

A married couple who are both engineers have been developing solar panels that could be used as roadways. The panels would contain LED lights so paint wouldn't be necessary. A viral YouTube video also points out the panels could be used on any surface. So recreational parks could have a solar basketball court that could turn into a tennis court or hopscotch with basically the flip of a switch. And, they're solar panels.

Sounds pretty nifty. What's the hold up?

Aerospace engineer Tony Rawson tells us why this particular idea isn't financially or environmentally feasible.
