Radioactivity: Live Call-In (Thursday) | Listen to this entire show:

Good morning, welcome to Radioactivity. I’m Rob Lorei. Coming up today we’ll discuss the problems facing a radio station that serves farmworkers in South Florida. And later we’ll open the phone lines. But first- one listener comment about yesterday’s program—yesterday we got into a short discussion about program changes and the mix of music, news and talk on WMNF. Here’s what one listener had to say:

None years ago in the southwest Florida community of Immokaleee, a group of workers and their supporters built a low power radio station to serve the needs of the workers who harvest the citrus and winter vegetables in the huge farming area just east of Fort Myers. Now that radio station is having transmitter problems and it needs to make some major equipment repairs- otherwise the community of workers will lose its voice on the radio. We’re joined now by one of the hosts on Radio Concencia- Gerardo Reyes Chavez
