In less than three weeks the Republican National Convention kicks off; Most of the events are in Tampa, but on Sunday August 26, St. Petersburg is hosting a giant party for delegates, dignitaries and journalists at Tropicana Field.
In response, the city is considering a temporary Event Zone ordinance similar to one passed by Tampa. They'll be voting on it Thursday and our guest, Mark Skogman from the St. Pete RNC Coalition, opposes the broad reach of what's being proposed. Some of the reasons are the broad range of what's prohibited by the proposal and how large the Event Zone is
The group plans a press conference and protest at St. Pete City Hall at 2 p.m. Thursday. City Council is expected to vote during its 3 p.m. meeting.

cocktail partyThanks to the organizers. I attended the press conference at city hall. I realised the glass of water I'd been sipping on will be illegal, when we protest on Sunday.
