Tampa City Council approves brownfield designation for planned Seminole Heights WalMart
Thursday morning Tampa City Council unanimously approved a brownfield designation for the site where WalMart plans to build a big-box store in Seminole Heights.
That will give the retail giant tax breaks for building on the Hillsborough Avenue site of a former auto dealership.
Council member Frank Reddick said there will be a public meeting next week.
"I'm pretty sure quite a few of us receive emails from certain individuals asking us to delay this but I just want to say that on October 8 at 6:30 pm I'm holding a community meeting at Reagan Park with the executives at Walmart who will be in town to answer any questions any one in the community has about Walmart. So, I just want to put that notice out there that this meeting is going to take place on October 8, 6:30 at Reagan Park. They has agreed to come in town, meet with the residents, meet with anyone in the community discussing the questions, concerns, they might have.
Despite Reddicks claim that council had received push-back on the proposed WalMart, no one from the public spoke during Thursdays second and final public hearing.comments powered by Disqus
