Tampa City Council to ask Florida Governor & Legislature for ability to regulate concealed weapons during Republican Convention listen

Next Thursday, Tampa City Council will take its first vote on temporary rules for August’s Republican National Convention. Many types of weapons would be banned inside the proposed Event Zone, which was originally called a Clean Zone. But that restriction would not apply to people with concealed weapons permits because of a Florida law prohibiting local municipalities from placing such limits. Today City Council member Lisa Montelione proposed sending a letter to the Governor, Attorney General and Legislators asking them to put aside the law and let Tampa restrict those weapons during the convention.
