This Thursday President Obama makes an important speech outlining how he plans to reduce the nation's high unemployment rate. Almost 80 years ago President Franklin Roosevelt began several jobs programs (including the Works Progress Administration and the Civilian Conservation Corps) that began to turn around The Depression's staggering 25% unemployment rate. The legacy of those WPA and CCC projects can easily be seen here in Florida. Here to talk about the legacy of FDR's jobs programs is Dr. Gary Mormino who is a history professor at USF in St. Petersburg.
