While discussing President Bush’s speech on Iraq tonight, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi today criticized the liberal advocacy group MoveOn.org for its ad bashing Gen. David Petraeus earlier this week.
That controversial ad, published Monday in the New York Times rhymed Petraeus with Betray-Us and inflamed Republicans on Capitol Hill.
Instead of talking about whether they support President Bush’s strategy in Iraq, or Petraeus, Republicans have been blasting the liberal advocacy group, and calling on Democrats to denounce the ad.
Pelosi told Good Morning America today that “I would have preferred that they not do such an ad.”
The rise of MoveOn.org is one of many stories written about what’s going on inside the Democratic Party over the past few years by New York Times Magazine political reporter Matt Bai. His new book, The Argument: Billionaires, Bloggers and the Battle to Remake Democratic Politics has just been published.
In the second part of our interview, Bai speaks to WMNF about the power of the bloggers on the Democratic Party.
