Today Radioactivity explores Social Security and Medicare. Rob Lorei interviews Max Richtman, President of the Committee to Protect Social Security and Medicare about the efforts to change the systems.

The Tampa Bay Metro area, has a higher percentage of residents on Social Security than the national rate. Statewide more than 3.6 million people receive Social Security. Social Security benefits are not keeping pace with the cost of living in America. The average monthly benefit is $1269 which is slightly higher than what a full time minimum wage worker makes. There’s an effort to increase Social Security payments by $70 each month.
