Six months ago tomorrow a small group gathered in downtown’s Gaslight Square for the first Occupy Tampa rally. In the intervening months, activists migrated from Gaslight to a sidewalk along Curtis Hixon Park, where a permanent occupation began. But there were many arrests for trespassing there, and the group eventually migrated several miles away to a private park in West Tampa. But before that decision was made, activists tried to occupy a park across the Hillsborough River from Curtis Hixon. Before dawn on December 2, police arrested 29 members of Occupy Tampa in Riverfront Park. Their cases are working their way through the court system and Occupy Tampa activist Bailey Riley was at today’s hearings.
