What will EPA rules for coal ash mean for Florida?
A recent spill of toxic coal ash from a Duke Energy storage pond polluted a North Carolina river and has people concerned about the safe storage and disposal of the waste product of burning coal.
Florida has dozens of coal ash ponds and landfills and there are no regulations specific to the waste product. That is, until later this year when the EPA is required to finalize the first-ever coal ash regulations.
