A controversial development proposal on waterfront property in Manatee County is on hold for now. Nearly 500 acres of waterfront won’t be considered for a land use change at a meeting next month that would have given investors the green light on building a resort, retail center and convention center.

Manatee County celebrates World Breastfeeding Month at Bradenton Riverwalk on Wednesday listen

Advocates of breastfeeding say it improves the health of infants and even educational outcomes later in childhood.

The Florida Department of Health in Manatee County is hosting a celebration of World Breastfeeding Month Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until noon at the Bradenton Riverwalk. There will be breastfeeding counselors, education materials and nutrition educators.

WMNF spoke with Debora Castanon, breastfeeding coordinator for the Manatee County WIC and nutrition program.
