A controversial development proposal on waterfront property in Manatee County is on hold for now. Nearly 500 acres of waterfront wont be considered for a land use change at a meeting next month that would have given investors the green light on building a resort, retail center and convention center.

Today Radioactivity discusses the efforts to save some local trauma centers at hospitals. The Florida Department of Health is in the process of deciding whether they are going to shut down these local trauma centers in Tampa Bay. One of the trauma centers is Blake Medical Center in Bradenton. The other is at the Regional Medical Center at Bayonet Point in Pasco County. Advocates of breastfeeding say it improves the health of infants and even educational outcomes later in childhood.
The Florida Department of Health in Manatee County is hosting a celebration of World Breastfeeding Month Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until noon at the Bradenton Riverwalk. There will be breastfeeding counselors, education materials and nutrition educators.
WMNF spoke with Debora Castanon, breastfeeding coordinator for the Manatee County WIC and nutrition program.
