Today the Poverty in the Americas conference concluded at the University of South Florida’s Tampa campus. It stressed the relationship between poverty in South America and the daily lives of their neighbors to the north.

Miami officials announced today that their city’s Police Chief is stepping down. Chief John Timoney says he will stay on the job until a new chief is selected. Also today, newly elected Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado was sworn in. He has indicated he wanted to remove Timoney from the position.
