A public housing community in Tampa has been recognized for its environmentally sustainable design. Moses White Estates is the first development in the Housing Authority of the City of Tampa to attain a LEED Gold designation.

On today’s program we talked with a couple of the best green contractors in our area. The Learning Gate Charter School in Lutz just received its Platinum LEED certification from the US Green Building Council, and last year installed a 5 KW solar electric grid-tie System.

Tampa finally has its first green building that will achieve LEED certification. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and is the sustainable building accreditation standard.
The building opened Monday on West Kennedy Boulevard and is the new home of the marketing company Walker Brands.
