Last week the U.S. Senate shot down a controversial House budget that included sweeping changes to Medicare, but critics of the proposal aren’t quite ready to rest easy. About ten people demonstrated outside Senator Marco Rubio’s office in Tampa earlier today. Tim Heberlein of the Florida Consumer Action Network spearheaded the event, which attracted a range of activists.

Today in St. Petersburg, about 30 local members of MoveOn.org rallied for half an hour in front of Congressman Bill Young’s office. The activists then delivered a petition to Young’s local staff, asking that he support President-Elect Obama’s Economic Recovery Plan.

Joe Illingworth is the Pinellas County Coordinator for MoveOn.Org. He discussed whether it is too early to pressure members of Congress to support legislation that has yet to be officially written.
