A $7 million project moving a historic skate bowl about 200 feet from one side of a park to another was approved by Tampa City Council Thursday. The “Bro Bowl” has been around since the 1970s and its users fought to save it by getting historic designation for the graffiti-laden concrete bowl. Now, through an expensive compromise, the city will build skaters a new park.

Tampa City Council wants to move the skate park known as the Bro Bowl in Perry Harvey Sr. Park to make way for features honoring the areaâs African-American history.
