Edna Adan, from Somaliland, who is featured as one of the women who is making a difference in HALF THE SKY: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide discusses her background. Edna was born under the British Protectorate and was the first girl/woman to get an education in Somaliland even though there were no schools for girls.
